There are a number of pieces of pewter and Britannia marked by J.Weekes, N.Y. or J.Weekes & Co. The New York directories from 1818 to 1840 list a number of James or Joseph Weekes (or Weeks) none is termed a pewterer or britannia-maker. James Weekes is listed in the directories in New York as a Drygoods Merchant, and then in newspaper advertisements in Poughkeepsie, New York as a merchant and pewter and britannia manufacturer.
